How to Grow Swede (Rutabaga)

Sow April, May, June
Harvest November, December, January

April to June thinly 1/2in (1cm) deep in shallow pre-watered drills, in soil that has not been manured in the last 12 months. Keep soil moist at all times. Protect early sowings with cloche or fleece.

15cm (38cm) apart.

Swedes do best in well dug soils which have not been recently manured. Lift as needed. Use thinnings as baby leaf.

In America swedes are known as Rutabaga.
