September: Monthly Tour (Year 1)

It’s time for a monthly walk around my new allotment garden. A lot has changed since the previous tour.

  1. Just put my shed up with lots of help. Used the plastic eco base system, filled with gravel. First coat of paint went on today, it’s grey. Going to use guttering to collect rainwater ( in fact it’s a rule on our site), will be needed as the water supply gets shut off for the winter. Was going to site the compost bins near the shed but been advised against it as rats get in them and might migrate to our cosy shed in winter…. feels good to get your shed up , well done, look forward to seeing your progress.

  2. I was wondering when you were going to get around to digging, lol, no dig sounds good, you don’t have too many weeds. I can’t do that on mine as there are hundreds of brambles & they will just come up through. Having to try & dig them all out but they are still coming back.
I took my plot on this year too, not got a shed up but have got a greenhouse, had to put plastic in as we aren’t allowed glass. We aren’t allowed sheds that you can stand up in either so we can only have short storage.
Look forward to seeing how you get it all set up over winter.
